art journal page – the road less traveled

This page started with the desire to play with my Liquitex Basics acrylic paints.  I also wanted to use the photo of the wooden bridge that I had taken a few years ago.  I started spreading the red and green paints using a credit card.  The paint was very smooth and a little went a long way.  I chose some patterned scrapbook papers and a book page to use behind the photo to help make it the focal point.

I used the credit card again to paint the white stripes with Gesso towards to photo.  The white splatters are also Gesso with a little water to make it more fluid.  The circles were made using a circle stencil and I painted them with Gesso using my finger.  I used yellow watercolour paint over them to tone down the whiteness on the page.

The sentiment was stamped onto white cardstock and then cut out to glue onto the page.  I finished the page by adding the lace and ribbon along the edge of the photo and doodled around the circles and the photo.  Lastly I used the credit card to paint the black border around the whole page.
