art journal page – art at a minimum (journal52)

art at a minimum3As you can see, it’s catch up time!  That’s what lazy Saturdays are for!  This page is week 9 of Journal52, “artistic restraint”.  The prompt called for using one colour plus black and white and only using one shape.  The background is sprayed with glimmer mists from Tattered Angels.  They shimmer in the light but you have to watch what media you put on top of them because they are water soluble.  I used three different sizes of circles, two were paper towel tubes and one was a plastic lid.  You can always find stuff around the house for your art journal pages, just keep your eyes open!

art at a minimum1  I added the text next using two sets of alphabet stamps and Versafine ink.

art at a minimum2I added the white circles last to fill in some of the empty space.

art at a minimum4art at a minimum5I enjoyed doing this page knowing that I was restricted with what I could use.  Even though there is empty space, I like that it’s simple and not cluttered.  This was a good prompt!

Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist – Red-Nosed Reindeer, Pumpkin Spice

Americana Craft Paint – Lamp Black, Warm White

Versafine Ink – Black

Autumn Leaves Alphabet Stamps – Antique Hand Drawn

Small Alphabet Stamps
